The Fountain of Youth

Legend has it, explorer Juan Ponce de Leon learned that Bimini was the site of the Fountain of Youth.  In 1513 he set sail for Bimini from Puerto Rico with three ships.  He found Bimini but failed to find the fabled Fountain of Youth.

SS Sapona

Head a little off-shore from Bennetts Harbour, South Bimini and you'll find the shipwreck of the SS Samoan.  Commissioned by President Wilson as a troop transport and eventually sold to Carl Fisher of Miami.  Used as a chino, to store alcohol during the prohibition era in 1926 it ran aground during a hurricane.  A snorkeler's or divers paradise full of "new" reef growth.
